SSFC 2020 Conference

the Safe and sustainable back-end of the fuel cycle (SSFC 2020) conference

We would like to cordially invite you to the Safe and sustainable back-end of the fuel cycle (SSFC 2020) conference which will take place in Prague on 18 and 19 May 2020.

The meeting is dedicated to the exchange of international experience and knowledge of the preparation and implementation of the nuclear fuel cycle back-end. A number of internationally-recognised experts with long-term experience in the field will present their findings at the conference, including experts from member states of the European Union (for example the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia) as well as from Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia and Japan. We believe that the sharing of information at the international level will be beneficial for all those present and will help in terms of ensuring progress on this issue going forward.

The conference programme will include the following topics:

  • The State Energy Policy, the National Action Plan for Nuclear Energy, the Radioactive Waste (RAW) and Spent Nuclear Fuel (SNF) Management Concept in the Czech Republic – current status and development in the future;
  • The approaches of various Central and Eastern European countries – SNF and RAW disposal system research and development programmes; V4 + 4 knowledge sharing options;
  • Open and transparent communication with the public and public involvement in the DGR site selection process;
  • European projects;
  • Differing approaches to the management of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel outside the European Union.
